Outreach Ministries

“FROM OUR CHURCH TO OUR COMMUNITY”

PURPOSE:

Responding to the Great Commission to bear witness to the Gospel with a voice, lives and gifts; proclaiming the Good News to all people and all nations, motivating members to communicate with unchurched persons and care for the inactive; working in unity with other Christian Congregations.

Responding to God’s call for His people to care for the earth, love one another, foster justice, feed the hungry, visit the sick and imprisoned.

OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES:

At St. Paul’s, outreach is how we live out our faith beyond the church walls. We believe that sharing God’s love means caring for our neighbors, supporting those in need, and serving our community with compassion and purpose.

Our outreach ministries offer many ways to get involved—whether through local food drives, community meals, clothing collections, care packages, or mission projects that extend across our region and beyond. Each activity is an opportunity to put faith into action and make a real difference in someone’s life.

You don’t need special skills—just a willing heart and a desire to serve. Whether you can give a few hours a month or take part in a larger project, there’s a place for you in our outreach ministry. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ, bringing hope and kindness to our community and the world.

  • An Interfaith Community Food Pantry operated by a volunteer board of directors, supported by the Conemaugh Ministerium and private donations.

Visit our Facebook page for details!

  • When starting this ministry we generated 29 quilts, today we donate 100+ quilts yearly.

The group meets at the Church each Monday 9:00am to 3:00pm and lunch is not provided.

  • St. Paul’s members participate in Ssturday’s kitchen. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Food For Families program operates two Family Kitchens, one in Altoona and one in Johnstown, serving a noon meal to anyone in need without charge.

Currently the Family Kitchens serve close to 100,000 meals per year.

For additional information visit their Facebook page!

  • There’s always something happening at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and everyone is invited to join in! Throughout the year, we host a variety of fun and faith-filled activities—craft days, movie nights, Halloween trick-or-treat, Christmas pageants, and more. These events are wonderful opportunities to connect, celebrate, and grow together as a community.

Visit our Calendar Page to see what’s coming up, and check back often for the latest updates. We’d love for you to be part of the fun and fellowship!

  • Each year, churches in our area work together to provide families in our community with bags of traditional Thanksgiving foods, sharing the spirit of gratitude and generosity.

  • Our Homebound & Visitation Ministry is dedicated to caring for members of our church family who are unable to attend worship or church activities in person. Through regular visits, prayer, conversation, and Holy Communion (when requested), we bring the love of Christ and the presence of the church into their homes, care facilities, and hospital rooms.

    This ministry provides:

    • Spiritual support and encouragement

    • Personal connection and companionship

    • A reminder that no one is forgotten in the body of Christ

If you or someone you know would benefit from a visit—or if you feel called to serve in this caring ministry—please contact the church office. Together, we can offer comfort, hope, and Christian fellowship to those who need it most.
